This collection represents over 30 years of meticulous curation by a former Director of both TVC and TWS, where the owner served on the prestigious buying committee. Every bottle has been sourced exclusively from trusted origins and maintained through an unbroken chain of climate-controlled storage. While abroad, wines were held at premier facilities—55 Degrees in St. Helena and Smith & Taylor in London—before being moved to custom-built home cellars featuring dedicated cooling and humidity controls. The owner has remained an active educator and steward in the wine community, ensuring this collection reflects a lifetime of professional-grade care and impeccable provenance.
1954 Bual Velho Madiera Engarrafado from this lot has the following scores - 92. This is the tasting note for 1954 Bual Velho Madiera Engarrafado from Tom Cannavan - Very black/brown colour. Quite an exotic undertow to this wine on the nose, which although quite oxidised and nutty, has developed all sorts of incense-like smoky and spice notes, but also hints of guava and ripe tropical fruit. On the palate it has a delicious sweetness, that is very rounded and rich, with a full plum and quince jam richness, and delicious lip-smacking tang of Seville orange and grapefruit acidity. Lovely integration here, with concentration and plenty of life about it, though perhaps not the ultimate complexity of some.
