A consignor who was a member of a group of professionals who launched a wine club in Toronto during the mid-1970s. Though his interest in wine was long-standing, his serious collecting didn’t begin until after his retirement in 2008. Following several years of research into proper wine storage and investment, he crossed paths with Warren Porter, which further shaped his approach. Most of the wines were sourced through Iron Gate, while additional selections came from the LCBO's Oakville flagship store and its exclusive Classics catalogue. His collection was housed in custom-built cellars, maintained at optimal temperature and humidity, with each bottle categorized by its purpose: Investment, Maturation, or Inheritance.
1989 Chateau Latour Grand Vin Pauillac has following scores - Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy 96, John Gilman's View from the Cellar 95, Jeannie Cho Lee (formerly Asian Palate) 95, Richard Jennings 95. 1989 Chateau Latour Grand Vin Pauillac has the score of 92 from Tom Cannavan and the tasting note -Very rich, dark crimson core that is ruby at the rim. A youthful colour. Nose is ripe and meaty with a mass of dusty, olive and blackcurrant fruit. A nicely vegetal quality. Palate is quite full and the fruit is ripe with rich tannins that are sweet and deep. There is an edge of plum-skin bitterness and acidity that gives lovely balance. A nice sense of roundness too with sweet vanillin oak showing up in a long, harmonious finish. Lovely wine.
