A Vancouver-based cellar who began collecting when Rauzan Segla and Bonnes Mares were accessible for under $10. The collector began dedicating any little bit of extra money he had to buying wine, primarily Bordeaux and Burgundy, and he never stopped. Nearly everything was purchased directly on release, from trusted retailers in BC, Alberta, Washington, California, and New York. Initially storing everything in a climate controlled home cellar, he expanded into professional storage some years ago. It recently became obvious that he had acquired far more wine that he could consume, and Iron Gate is delighted to work with this client to bring this collection to auction.
1991 Domaine Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru from this lot has the following scores - BurgHound.com 91 points, CellarTracker 91 points. This is the tasting note for 1991 Domaine Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru from Robert Parker - Opening in the glass with aromas of sweet orchard fruits mingled with honeycomb, butterscotch, iodine and smoke, the 1991 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a broad, satiny, enveloping palate that's fleshy and gourmand. This is an opulent, gourmand vintage for Bonneau du Martray that remains very youthful at over 30 years of age.
