The collector’s passion for wine began in the early 1990s through a focus on food pairings, evolving into an extensive study of wine history and regular travels throughout the premier growing regions of Italy, France, Napa, and Sonoma. She completed the International Sommelier Guild Wine Fundamentals Level 1 and Level 2 certificates in 2002. Discerning the critical importance of temperature and humidity control, she initially kept her collection in a standalone wine cooler before transferring it to a custom, professionally built basement wine cellar constructed during a 2006 home renovation. She acquired all of her high-end allocations from The Wine Cellar in Edmonton and has meticulously maintained them in this pristine, climate-controlled environment ever since.
1993 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru from this lot has the following scores - CellarTracker 92 points, The Wine Advocate 90 points. This is the tasting note for 1993 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru from Robert Parker - The Grands-Echezeaux is fuller, sweeter, and more concentrated than the Echezeaux. It reveals a healthy dark ruby color, an attractive nose of red and black fruits and pain grillee, followed by a medium-bodied, concentrated style with a firm, well-delineated, focused personality, and moderate tannin in the finish. It is a 15-year wine that requires another 5-6 years of patience. The DRC's 1993s possess the vintage's toughness, tannic structure, austerity, and aging potential. They will not be flattering to drink in their youth, and most will require 6-10 years of cellaring. Typical of the vintage, they appear to be the most tannic and structured wines made at this domaine since 1983.
