The collector’s passion for wine began in the early 1990s through a focus on food pairings, evolving into an extensive study of wine history and regular travels throughout the premier growing regions of Italy, France, Napa, and Sonoma. She completed the International Sommelier Guild Wine Fundamentals Level 1 and Level 2 certificates in 2002. Discerning the critical importance of temperature and humidity control, she initially kept her collection in a standalone wine cooler before transferring it to a custom, professionally built basement wine cellar constructed during a 2006 home renovation. She acquired all of her high-end allocations from The Wine Cellar in Edmonton and has meticulously maintained them in this pristine, climate-controlled environment ever since.
2000 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru from this lot has the following scores - CellarTracker 94 points, Wine Enthusiast 93 points. This is the tasting note for 2000 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru from Robert Parker - The Grands Echézeaux 2000 is a cerebral Burgundy, not quite as convincing as it was three years ago, but still a great wine. Here it has a vibrant red berry, stony bouquet that is reserved at first, but opens nicely with limestone and sea-spray scents emerging with time. It has a quite brilliant balance on the palate–not a powerful Grands Echézeaux but complex, with hints of black olive and chlorophyll emerging toward the finish that gently fans out and becomes a little spicier as it aerates. Superb.
