All lots are located in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Confirmation of pickup or delivery of Iron Gate Commercial Auction winnings must be made within 60 days of auction close. Thereafter, your winnings will be subject to storage fees, including a $75 setup, subsequent $5.00/case/month and $1.25 per bottle fee for inventory services. If no contact has been made within two years, auction winnings will be considered abandoned.
It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the property purchased and any assistance by the Auctioneer, or the employees of, agents or contractors in packing and removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. This Quebec consignor was introduced to the world of wine by one of the province’s most important private collectors, Champlain Charest. M Champlain shared his passion and taught him to invest in value wines. He began his own collection in 2010, and purchased all of the bottles through the SAQ, SAQ Grand Connaisseur and Champlain Charest wine cellar. Prior to arriving at Iron Gate, the wines were stored in a wine cellar with the temperature regulated at 14C-15C and humidity controlled to 70%.
2002 Salon Cuvee S Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Champagne has following scores - Wine Enthusiast 100, Decanter 100. 2002 Salon Cuvee S Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Champagne has the score of 96 from Robert Parker and the tasting note -I sacrificed a bottle of the 2002 Brut Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil from my own cellar to fill this gap in The Wine Advocate database and was interested to see that the wine has evolved a little since I last encountered it a couple of years ago. Subtle aromas of brioche, iodine and walnuts now inflect its bouquet of ripe lemon, green apple and crushed chalk, and on the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and powerful, with a fine mousse and considerable depth and dimension, concluding with a delicately chalky finish. This is an unusually ripe, muscular vintage of Salon, and my own palate tends to favor the brighter, more incisive vintages such as the 2007 or the 1996 at its best, but this is nonetheless a superb blanc de blancs that's maturing a touch faster than I expected.
