His collecting journey began in 1999, growing from a $10 bottle curiosity into a deep, lifelong appreciation for wine. Despite decades of experience, he continues to learn from each new bottle he buys and each new wine he tastes. This humility is matched by his discipline in sourcing and storage. Every bottle in his collection was purchased through the BCL or via auction, then held in professional, temperature-controlled facilities before moving to his home cellar. He maintains a complete paper trail for the collection, with the original receipts, auction records, and lot numbers available for every bottle.
2008 Domaine Leflaive Batard Montrachet Grand Cru from this lot has the following scores - Wine Enthusiast 97 points, BurgHound.com 96 points, Wine Spectator 95 points. This is the tasting note for 2008 Domaine Leflaive Batard Montrachet Grand Cru from Allen Meadows - Here the nose is notably tighter and more reserved with aromas of citrus blossom and zest, spice, smoke, fennel and hints of acacia that introduce big, muscular and wonderfully complex broad-scaled flavors that culminate in a long, focused and explosive finish of breathtaking length and intensity. This should reward at least a decade in the cellar and drink well for a similar period thereafter. This too is terrific and very Bâtard and like the Combettes, the '08 version is one of the very best young examples from Leflaive that I have ever seen.
