All lots are located in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Confirmation of pickup or delivery of Iron Gate Commercial Auction winnings must be made within 60 days of auction close. Thereafter, your winnings will be subject to storage fees, including a $75 setup, subsequent $5.00/case/month and $1.25 per bottle fee for inventory services. If no contact has been made within two years, auction winnings will be considered abandoned.

 

It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the property purchased and any assistance by the Auctioneer, or the employees of, agents or contractors in packing and removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. The Auctioneer shall not be liable for any errors or omissions or damage caused by packers and shippers, notwithstanding the fact that the Auctioneer may have recommended such shippers or packers to the purchaser.

A Vancouver-based cellar who began collecting when Rauzan Segla and Bonnes Mares were accessible for under $10. The collector began dedicating any little bit of extra money he had to buying wine, primarily Bordeaux and Burgundy, and he never stopped. Nearly everything was purchased directly on release, from trusted retailers in BC, Alberta, Washington, California, and New York. Initially storing everything in a climate controlled home cellar, he expanded into professional storage some years ago. It recently became obvious that he had acquired far more wine that he could consume, and Iron Gate is delighted to work with this client to bring this collection to auction.

This is the tasting note for 2011 Domaine Fontaine Gagnard Batard Montrachet Grand Cru from Robert Parker - The Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2011 from Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard is a gem. Here we have a killer limestone, stony bouquet that is stoic but utterly captivating, more like a Montrachet in my opinion. The palate is struck through with superb tension and grace, delicate touches of citrus peel, finely poised with an intense and penetrating finish. What a fabulous Bâtard-Montrachet this is from one of Chassagne top-notch growers.
