The collector’s passion for wine began in the early 1990s through a focus on food pairings, evolving into an extensive study of wine history and regular travels throughout the premier growing regions of Italy, France, Napa, and Sonoma. She completed the International Sommelier Guild Wine Fundamentals Level 1 and Level 2 certificates in 2002. Discerning the critical importance of temperature and humidity control, she initially kept her collection in a standalone wine cooler before transferring it to a custom, professionally built basement wine cellar constructed during a 2006 home renovation. She acquired all of her high-end allocations from The Wine Cellar in Edmonton and has meticulously maintained them in this pristine, climate-controlled environment ever since.
2005 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Echezeaux Grand Cru from this lot has the following scores - The Wine Advocate 95 points, Jeannie Cho Lee (formerly Asian Palate) 95 points, BurgHound.com 94 points, Vinous 94 points, CellarTracker 94 points, Wine Spectator 93 points, John Gilman's View from the Cellar 93 points. This is the tasting note for 2005 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Echezeaux Grand Cru from Robert Parker - The 2005 Echezeaux delivers ravishingly sweet, high-toned aromas of black raspberry, maraschino, marzipan, marmalade and iodine. It saturates the palate with sweet, ripe fruit and inner-mouth perfume, while introducing layers of fresh meat and shrimp-shell minerality. The texture is amazingly creamy and polished, and the long, refined finish adds an alluring hint of mocha. Superb saturation of ultra-ripe fruit but with freshness, remarkable concentration yet elegance, lift, indeed near weightlessness- this is 2005 at its best.
