An Ontario-based collector, inspired by their father, who was also a wine enthusiast, began their own collection in the mid-1980s. Their father renovated the family’s ski chalet to include a dedicated wine cellar for the wine he purchased through a friend who was an importer representing Sandrone and Guigal. One of their fondest memories is lining up at 2:30 a.m. outside one of the five Vintage locations in Ontario to purchase both the 1989 and 1990 Petrus. The bottles being auctioned have remained with the original owner since acquisition and have only been moved once. They were initially stored in a wine fridge purchased from the Wine Establishment and later placed in the consignor’s home cellar, both temperature and humidity controlled.
The rating for 2005 Les Forts de Latour Pauillacis 93 points from Robert Parker and the tasting note - The 2005 Les Forts de Latour is another beautiful wine from this estate. Medium to full-bodied, with a dense ruby/purple color, loads of blackcurrant fruit, earth, and spice, the wine is extremely pure, broad, savory, and quite expensive. This is a fabulous second wine, but in essence, this is really of classified growth quality.
