All lots are located in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Confirmation of pickup or delivery of Iron Gate Commercial Auction winnings must be made within 60 days of auction close. Thereafter, your winnings will be subject to storage fees, including a $75 setup, subsequent $5.00/case/month and $1.25 per bottle fee for inventory services. If no contact has been made within two years, auction winnings will be considered abandoned.

 

It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the property purchased and any assistance by the Auctioneer, or the employees of, agents or contractors in packing and removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. The Auctioneer shall not be liable for any errors or omissions or damage caused by packers and shippers, notwithstanding the fact that the Auctioneer may have recommended such shippers or packers to the purchaser.

While abroad, wines were held at premier facilities—55 Degrees in St. Helena and Smith & Taylor in London—before being moved to custom-built home cellars featuring dedicated cooling and humidity controls. The owner has remained an active educator and steward in the wine community, ensuring this collection reflects a lifetime of professional-grade care and impeccable provenance.

This is the tasting note for NV Barbeito Vinho do Embaixador 40 Year Old Boal from Robert Parker - Named in honor of diplomat Fernão Favila Vieira and drawn from a selection of Barbeito's best 40-year-old lots, including some much older wines (including an 1891 Sercial and a Bual from the 1930s), the NV Boal 40 Years Old Vinho do Embaixador offers up subtle and complex aromas of furniture polish, exotic woods, dried grapefruit peel, buttered toast and figs. Full-bodied, deep and complete, with an elegantly textural attack that segues into a concentrated and multidimensional mid-palate, it's racy and precise, concluding with a long, resonant finish. This is a brilliant wine from Barbeito and worth a special effort to seek out.
